Civic Service

IAAP Tulsa is not just for learning, networking, and building careers. We believe our community, both local and worldwide, is as important to develop and support as ourselves.

Here you can keep track of upcoming service opportunities and learn about past service projects. We'll also keep a running log of members and their civic efforts. If you're able, please support our ambitious members in their fundraising goals.

If you have any suggestions for future events or wish to be on the Civic Service committee please contact the Secretary, Michelle Clayton, CPS-OM.
This year we were going to submit a tree to Philbrooks Festival of trees again, but due to unforeseen circumstances we had to withdraw.  Watch for this event again in November 2012.

The International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) – Tulsa Chapter will collect clothing and toys (from the shelter’s wish list) again this Christmas as their 2011 civic service project.  Forrest Carpenter will accept the donations on behalf of the shelter on Dec 1st during the chapter’s Christmas celebration which begins at 5:30PM.

The Laura Dester Shelter is a short-term emergency care facility for abused and neglected children (ages birth-17).They care for about 1,500 children annually and 58 percent of the children are under the age of 10.

“Many of us aren’t even aware that there are children in crisis out there that need our help making it through another day. Our hope is that these gifts will bring a smile to these children who might not otherwise receive Christmas presents.

For additional information about the IAAP Tulsa Chapter civic service project or for interviews, contact Jolene Yowell, CAP at j.yowell@cox.net. To contact the shelter for wish list items, please call 918-560-4803.
