Welcome to the Johnson County Chapter
of the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) website. Our chapter is here to mentor and foster your professional development through educational programs and workshops. We promote the two IAAP certification designations; Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) and Certified Administrative Professional (CAP). We offer various professional workshops and mock exams as opportunities to acquire the knowledge to pass these two certification exams. These workshops and mock exams are open to anyone who wishes to attend.
We hope that you will plan to attend a meeting to gather the information you need to advance your professional career. The Chapter meets the first Tuesday of every month at Bacchanalia, 12450 Newton Street, Overland Park, KS, Telephone: 913/696-1138. Interested in attending? Please contact Patty Steck by sending an email:

Background. Chartered on April 21, 1975, the chapter today boasts a growing membership of 47 motivated administrative professionals representing a broad cross-section of the metropolitan workforce. Our members represent numerous local companies and support the fields of education, finance, government, law, manufacturing, media, medicine, retail, real estate, telecommunications, and service industries, to name a few. Our members hold a variety of positions, including entry-level secretaries, clerks, technicians, administrative assistants, executive assistants, executive secretaries, office managers, project managers, individuals in management, and a variety of other administrative positions.
Networking. Because of the broad cross-section of administrative professionals, networking with our membership offers contacts in many diverse areas. Also with the variety of experience levels within our membership, you can develop mentoring relationships to increase your effectiveness as an administrative professional.
Education. Our focus is on providing the best education opportunities possible for area administrative professionals. At our monthly chapter meetings, we offer educational programs with pertinent subjects. 2010 - 2011 programs include: "Robert's Rules of Order - Parliamentary Procedures," "IAAP Leadership and Management," "Diversity," just to name a few. We also offer educational seminars and other events to enhance your professional development and to empower you in meeting your personal and career goals.
Commitment. The membership of the Johnson County Chapter of IAAP is committed to creating and maintaining a professional environment of mutual courtesy and respect.
