IAAP Meritas Bursary (IAAP Johannesburg Chapter at Large)

The IAAP Johannesburg Chapter at Large is a non-profit organisation and is the first and only International Chapter in South Africa for the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) based in America. The mission of the IAAP is to enhance the success of career-minded administrative professionals by providing opportunities for growth through education, community building and leadership development.

With the mission in mind the Chapter started a mentoring project for young administrative professionals in Johannesburg.  The IAAP’s theme for 2011/2012 is “Making the Leap to Remarkable” and therefore the Chapter decided to build on the mentoring project and start a bursary for a deserved student.  Being a non-profit organisation, the Chapter however realised that it would be imperative to find sponsors to assist in the education of those who are unable to pay for a higher certificate in Office Administration.

We then approached a few companies represented by our members.  Exxaro Resources and Anglogold Ashanti agreed to partner the IAAP to send students to complete a higher certificate in Office Administration at a Rosebank College.  AdvTech offered a 30% discount to all students awarded the bursary from the IAAP Johannesburg Chapter at Large.
