Community Service

Although the International Association of Administrative Professionals is, itself, a not-for profit organization, our chapter has also adopted a number of other groups which members volunteer for or make donations to.  Below are some examples of community activities our members have been involved. in.

Instead of exchanging gifts at our December Social, we each bring a present for the Happy Tree. A representative from VOCM and/or the Happy Tree visits the social to collect the gifts and tell us a little about how they are used and what their particular needs are.

We also bring donations for Iris Kirby House to the December Social. This group is a shelter for battered women and children, who often have absolutely nothing when they get there. From toiletries to clothing to household items, all donations are very welcomed.

Many years, a number of our members volunteer with the Janeway Telethon to answer the phones and/or enter the pledge information into the computers. This is a worthwhile cause, but it's also a lot of fun!

We have also made donations to the Red Cross Disaster Relief program and the School Lunch Program and participated in the 11th Annual CIBC Run for the Cure.

In addition, the United Way requested assistance from our chapter in creating a database for entering their pledge information. Once again, members came through!
