March Madness RTF

In the next few days on the news and in all types of electronic media, you will begin hearing more and more about March Madness.

For those of you who may not know, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) refers to its annual Division I Basketball Championship single elimination tournament held each Spring by 65 college basketball teams as March Madness, since this tournament developed in 1939 generally takes place during the month of March.

Well, you’re wondering what does this have to do with IAAP and the Chicago Lake Shore Chapter? It’s simple, this March there’s a different type of madness brewing… the Retirement Trust Foundation (RTF) is having a District-wide fundraising contest in support of the Family of Givers (FoG) Program. This contest will not only support the RTF and the FoG Program, it also is a contest between each IAAP District. We will be competing against other chapters within the Illinois Division and other divisions in the Great Lakes District. The Great Lakes District is comprised of Illinois (of course), Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin. As a Chapter, Division and District, we will be competing ultimately against the other 5 IAAP Districts, with a winner being announced at the upcoming 2010 Illinois EFAM in Elgin, IL and the 2010 EFAM in Boston, MA.

The Family of Givers Program gives members the ability to support the Retirement Trust Foundation through donations that are cumulative with a complementary recognition program. The Family of Givers allows the RTF to track your donations over time and recognize the whole of your generosity. At any time, you can check and track your personal donations, your chapter’s donations, and even your division’s donations to see exactly where you are standing.

We will continue with our Commitment to RTF Loose Change collection starting with our March meeting, but if you wish to make a separate donation to the Family of Givers (FoG) Program, please see the brochures on our website, along with the information on the newly created CLSC RTF page on our site.

Wouldn’t it be great to not only be the most financially supportive chapter in our Division, but to kick it up another notch to be the most financially supportive Division in our District?

Please keep in mind that your donations to the FoG Program and the RTF are strictly voluntary and if you choose not to participate for whatever reason, it is perfectly acceptable. If you have any ideas to promote the Family of Givers (FoG) Program fundraisers throughout March, or for more Family of Givers (FoG) Program details, please contact me Debra Leonard-Porch.
