Message from the President

Kate Denton, CAP-OM
President, 2011-2012

Wow … May is here! This year has really flown by and here we are again – Elections Month. I hope that you will all seriously consider getting more involved in the activities of the chapter. You can only get out of it what you put into it. You can find out more on page 2 and contact Linda Allicock directly for more information. Please note that nominations are due by May 9th, 2012. There is an interesting article about Maximizing Membership in Professional Societies that I found on www.careersblog.com – this will help you with your decision on becoming more active in our Chapter.

We are looking forward to having Bonnie Wooding with us at the May Chapter meeting. Bonnie is the former President of the Toronto Chapter and will be talking about starting your own business as a Virtual Assistant. This may not be something that interests you now, but is certainly information we should all have for future opportunities.

May is also the month that we celebrate our Moms and our families celebrate us! Happy Mother’s Day!

Please remember that we need a minimum of eleven members to cover the basic meeting costs.         We look forward to seeing you all at the next two meetings. We are also looking at some new ideas to make the meetings more meaningful to our members and thank those of you that have taken the time to share your thoughts through email and the surveys that we have been running.

Bonnie is a Virtual Executive Assistant with more than 30 years administrative experience. She started her career in the typing pool and worked her way through the ranks to the office of the President and CEO.

Her presentation will cover the following key points:
- Stop looking for a job
- Work from home
- Set your own schedule
- Be your own boss

Bonnie will be discussing what you need to succeed once you planed to be a Virtual Assistant and what to consider making the transition from corporate to home office.

Join us on May 16th for our annual elections, great learning from Bonnie and a wonderful opportunity to network with your peers. See you on the 16th!
